Denis Leary is producing a new series
for Comedy Central based on those old
Friars Club roasts.. [some of which
are actually FUNNY]..

Regardless, the first roast will be aired
Aug. 10 and one of the attendees is
none other than the Man himself..

James Gandolfini, aka Tony Soprano.
No word yet on whether he will be just
a guest or actually will take part in
the festivities, but remember, in the
Friars Club roasts, guests actually
made fun of the “honorees”…

Could make for an interesting night
of television, which is rare without a
new season of the Sopranos :)

[reported by the NY Times: Starr Report]

Vincent Curatola, better known as Jersey mob boss “Johnny Sack” in “The Sopranos,” went for a change of pace as a doctor in “I Am Woody,” Jeffrey Gurians new movie about a mob boss obsessed with Woody Allen.

Actually, Curatola didnt have much of a choice; his HBO contract prohibits him from playing a gangster, says Gurian, so he opted to play the doctor in “I Am Woody,” a 30-minute short that just debuted at The Village East Cinema (12th St.) as part of the NY Independent Film and Video Festival. It will also play at the Arlenes Grocery Picture Show festival, unspooling Friday on the Lower East Side.

Im sure my recent posting suprised many of you and Im aware a few believe it to be fabricated, the source of my information is an interview with David Chase in a National British Newspaper where he revealed the details of the proposed ending almost a year and half ago. When contacted again regarding the current state of season 5 was in before everything got sorted, he was asked and again quoted that he wants the last season(and this will HIS last) to end, with a bang and he quoted can you honestly say, none of them dont deserve it. He also hinted and I stress the word hinted, that Mr. Sack and a certain Russian group will have a major impact on the last season.

Ok folks. It looks like Chase & co. are
pulling out ALL the stops casting-wise
for this fifth and possibly last season
of our favorite show.

The incomparable character actor
Frank Vincent, whose face is
virtually synonymous with
Scorseses two “little” gangster pics,
“GoodFellas” & “Casino” has been
cast for the 5th Season,
according to Michael Starr of the
New York Posts Starr Report.

Yup. Thats right. Recently
weve seen Steve Buscemi and
Robert Loggia join the cast, and
now Vincent. Simply amazing,
and this will have to make for
the best season yet.

Vincent has a history with HBO
Films and certain cast members
of “The Sopranos” after appearing
in HBOs version of the John
Gotti story, “Gotti”. He played
Robert “DiB” DiBernardo,
the legendary porn kingpin and
Gambino capo. Vincent Pastore
[Big Pussy], Dominic Chianese
[Uncle Junior], and Tony Sirico
[Paulie Walnuts] all appeared in
“Gotti” as well.

He also played the role of another
mafioso in Gottis clan, underboss
Frankie DeCicco in the
“other version” of the Gotti story,
“Witness to the Mob” in which
Pussy, Paulie, and Michael
Imperioli [Chris Moltisante]
also appeared.

David Chase has recently revealed that he intended to end the Sopranos after season 4 but decided to carry on after he was offered a crazy ammount of money. The proposed ending was, wait for it, to have the Soprano family ie: Tony, Chris, Paulie, silvo etc, to be all killed off!!!
Apparently Chase is still keen on this idea, but with HBO keen to continue the series Chase may opt for another ending but he has stated he will leave the show after season 5. And with other cast members saying they will go (tony) it looks like our beloved mobsters could finally get whats coming to them!!!!
